Let’s start by saying I did not engage in the full One Juice detox juice plan. I equate diets with deprivation so not eating would be tantamount to ditching my mobile or shoes; a fate worse than death. The One Juice smoothies challenge intrigued me, though. I was promised a glowing skin, more energy and possible weight loss so I gave it a bash.

Jade Allen hosted her annual Red Carpet Fashion Show at The Bay Hotel this weekend. Summer 2016/17 is sizzling.
A golden sunset and 2500 red and white roses formed a magnificent backdrop to the 6th annual Red Carpet Fashion Show at The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay this past weekend. The soiree, hosted by Jade Allen of Red Carpets Concepts PR in partnership with Prestige Magazine and DStv’s Fashion One, set out to showcase local and international summer collections while supporting wildlife organisations.
Jacques Lagrange Couture undoubtedly owned the runway as one resplendent gold creation followed another in an ode to modern-day glamour.
In a post-event chat with Jacque-y, he spoke about the magnificent collection inspired by Klimt’s ‘Woman in Gold’ painting. Creations of metallic organza, silk chiffon and metallic French lace adorned with glass pearls and Swarovski crystals proven that he is Cape Town couture at it’s finest.“Everyone’s obsessed with negativity and bad news these days,” Jacques said. “I choose to celebrate a great life. Life’s too short, we need to go wild and have fun.”
A further line up of impressive local and international brands also showcased their spring-summer collections. Fashion powerhouse Joanna Hedley from Beach Cult is known for her run at Africa Fashion Week London and MBFW Joburg. theHive was recently featured at the Cannes Film Festival and On Trend is a conglomerate of fun, fresh and funky designers. M Couture is renowned for modest wear and dressed host Jade Allen. Footwear was supplied by Trend + Miller.
Brands from abroad included Devernois (France), Hackett London, Juicy Couture (USA) and Vilebrequin (St Tropez) together with Etnia Barcelona eyewear.
In support of a good cause R30 off each ticket went towards Relate Bracelets supporting the Endangered Wildlife Trust for the Dugong Project, the Rhino Project and Cheetah Project and the Save the Elephants Project.
With fabulous fashion, bubbles en masse and killer tunes at the after party at Sandy B Private Beach Club, the evening was an all-round stunner.
Thank you to Jade Allen and her team for a great night out, and to my peeps Jamal Dean G and Michelle Heslop for taking care of me. And a special shout out to Eventiv. creative agency for those exquisite rose walls.
Here’s to a great summer in style.
