Societi Bistro Tour Through France culinary fest is as good as ever.

July 22, 2014

Life’s good when a Saturday afternoon presents the decision to have beef or chicken at Societi Bistro‘s Tour Through France. Opting for one above the other is as challenging as choosing which pair of shoes to save in case of a fire. Impossible, I know so I did the sensible thing and sampled both.

With Andrew Wood, long-lost buddy Sadie de Wet (good to see you again, Lady) and bestie Mark Bland (@theblenderswine). I’m kicking off with the Profiterole warm dark chocolate dessert (R40) from Region 6. Hey, it’s chocolate!

By now you should be familiar with the 10 week culinary trip where restauranteur Peter Weetman and Chef Stefan Marais guides the restaurant’s patrons through select regions using food and wine pairing.

Having lived and cooked his way through France for about two years, Chef Stefan has mastered the art of French rustic cooking. Non of that fine cuisine, three squirts of mousse and a green sprig, Voila! madame, vibe. The kind where you need to hit McDonalds on the way home.

This is wholesome stick-to-your-ribs, straight-to-the-hips, winter comfort in a bowl goodness. Each meal comes paired with one of 10 popular South African wines, eliminating the need to spend time mulling over an extensive wine list. The team has done everything for you.

All that’s left is to sit back, unbuckle your belt and enjoy a hearty meal at one of Cape Town’s most hospitable eateries.

A party isn’t a party without Leigh’s (@lipglossgirl) perfectly manicured nails seen holding a rich onion soup. Also shown is a vegetarian meal option always a winner here.
