SA Menswear Week AW18: Magents amplified #MeToo

February 12, 2018

The SA Menswear Week AW18 shows kicked off the South African fashion circuit on Friday 9 February. Hosted by co-founder Simon Deiner and his team, we’re seeing this event – now in its 7th season – grow in stature from a hot as hell basement parking lot at the V&A Waterfront to Cape Town City Hall, nogal. Someone’s doing something right.

I have so much to tell you, from slow-dancing with Duncan Pape in the Belvedere Vodka lounge to my interview with hottie model Jimmy Ogunlaja for Spice TV. *cringe* But all of that will have to take a back seat as I need to talk about the Magents show.

Alessia Boutique SS13 launch

November 11, 2013

On Thursday evening Duncan Papé and I hit up Alessia Boutique in Sea Point for the launch of their summer 2013 collection. Its been awhile since we’d been out together so this was the perfect opportunity to perv and gos. We do that a lot. For the record, I think I may have to fire him as my stylist. He’s looking enviably better than I am these days.

Duncan’s sleek suit jacket is by my (other) darling friend, designer Kobus Dippenaar. My dress is from Chica Loca in Cavendish.
Find Alessia Boutique at Shop 13, Level 1, Piazza Du Luz, 94 Regent Street in Sea Point. (long story short, above Woolies & Vida e Cafe)

Don’t feel bad if you haven’t heard of Alessia before. I hadn’t either so was pretty surprised to see what they had on offer. At the risk of stereotyping – and I promise I’m not – this little gem is perfectly situated to service the Sea Point / Atlantic Seaboard crowd.

Housed under one roof you’ll find sequined cocktail dresses for summer soirees, silk shifts for drinks on the patio, little strappy tops for a braai around the pool and flowing kaftans for lazy days on the beach.

Grab a pair of Jimmy Choo or Marc Jacobs shades, cork wedges or bejeweled flats, a studded clutch or some arm candy all from the store, and summer is pretty much in the bag.

Alessia_Boutique_summer_2013_12 So you see, I wasn’t stereotyping. Alessia Boutique offers more than just the odd dress or shoe. They have your Cape Town lifestyle sorted.

Nice one, Marina Nestel. PS: Love the black top you were wearing.

And Lollipops on Top Billing

March 14, 2013

Here’s an insert on the Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo 2013 tournament which aired on Top Billing last week.

Enjoy all the style and fashion at this prestigious event organised by Vivid Luxury PR including interviews with some of Cape Town’s uber-glam crowd like Natalie Becker and Tracey Mc Gregor.

Or scroll straight through to about the 5 minute mark for a glimpse of Duncan Pape and I. Blink and you’ll miss it.

Design Indaba Expo 2013

March 5, 2013

The beauty of Design Indaba is that you’re entertained or wowed from arrival to departure. Like this DSTV poster in the entrance hall. From a distance its eye-catching in its simplicity.

Ok, so what’s the deal here.

Up close you’ll find yourself engaged in a little ‘guess the movie or character’ pop quiz.

Bread Cafe at The Bromwell Valentine’s Day breakfast

February 18, 2013

If a picture speaks a thousand words then technically I needn’t say anything about how I spent Valentine’s Day last week.

Bromwell 01

In essence, I ate my way through the special breakfast menu at Bread Cafe in The Bromwell Boutique Mall.

And then returned for dinner! Yikes!
