SA Menswear Week AW18: Will the real Rosey and Vittori please stand up?

February 12, 2018

Who are Rosey and Vittori?

Not the people but the brand. Their AW18 show at SA Menswear Week revealed very little of an original and cohesive collection. We saw Gucci’s snake and Kenzo’s eye. Even a Balenciaga-style Bazar Shopper with Gucci straps, and snake, tiger and floral badges. We saw palm prints, oriental prints, velvet and snow-washed denim.

It looked diabolical!

SA Menswear Week AW18: Magents amplified #MeToo

The SA Menswear Week AW18 shows kicked off the South African fashion circuit on Friday 9 February. Hosted by co-founder Simon Deiner and his team, we’re seeing this event – now in its 7th season – grow in stature from a hot as hell basement parking lot at the V&A Waterfront to Cape Town City Hall, nogal. Someone’s doing something right.

I have so much to tell you, from slow-dancing with Duncan Pape in the Belvedere Vodka lounge to my interview with hottie model Jimmy Ogunlaja for Spice TV. *cringe* But all of that will have to take a back seat as I need to talk about the Magents show.

Craig-Port-SA-Menswear-Week-SDR-01Personal feelings may have biased my review of the Craig Port AW16 collection at SA Menswear Week. Read at you own risk.

If my first Tinder date arrived at a restaurant wearing anything from the Craig Port AW16 collection, I doubt I’ll be escaping through the ladies’ room window. In fact, there may even be a generous post-dinner reward for his sartorial efforts;)

Rich textures, fresh jungle prints and a yellow coat I have my eye on. My review of the AKJP AW16 show at SA Menswear Week.

When the AKJP AW16 show walked on Day 1 of SA Menswear Week, my initial reaction was *yawn*, I’ve saw this look before.

Black Dog AW16 SA Menswear Week

Black Dog AW16 SA Menswear Week header

6-packs, the art of layering and a peacoat every man needs. My review of the Black Dog AW16 collection at SA Menswear Week.

Why have I not heard of Black Dog prior to their AW16 show at SA Menswear Week on Wednesday night? The fledgling Cape Town-based brand, under the creative direction Maxine Mauerberger and her production partner Dino Perotti (a hottie I might add), put a smile on my face. A big one.
